Summary

Buying a car is one of the highest-consideration purchases most people make, and for years the online half of it stopped at a lead form: browse, submit, wait for a phone call, start over from zero.

Online Shopper closed that gap. I was the lead designer on its 2.0 — Online Shopper: Electric — the redesign that let shoppers structure a real deal online (payments, financing, protection products, checkout) and let the dealer step into that same deal in real time. I designed both halves: the shopper-facing Garage, where a shopper builds and compares real deals, and the dealer-facing Automatic, where a rep works those deals live. A single saved deal moved from shopper intent to dealer close without restarting.

Project Highlights

  • Dealer Inspire reports a 15% higher close rate on pre-approved leads. The Garage redesign was recognized in the AWA Digital Retailing category and reviewed in depth by Brian Pasch in 2021.

  • Lead designer on the v2 redesign, across both sides of the transaction — the Garage and Automatic — working with a lead PM, engineering, and a design manager.

  • Shipped across web, mobile, and in-store kiosk, embedded on a 3,200+ dealer website platform.
